Beautiful Places
As a kid growing up in poverty in housing projects in Phoenix, Arizona, I grew up side by side with other kids who had never left a 5-10 mile radius of their neighborhood.
My dream/solution would be to create a non-profit organization called "Beautiful Places" to take children whose families are low-income and expose them to beautiful places. I know that my grandmother made a huge difference in my life by just taking me to see the ocean in California. Many children and families don't have the resources to go on vacation or to even visit beautiful places within their own City, State, Country.
I would like to solicit corporate sponsorships to establish a fund and a non-profit organization to take low-income children to beautiful places, such as museums, other cities, other states, to visit historical landmarks and even the 7 wonders of the world!
I think this is a wonderful idea. Have you tried Kickstarter.com to try and get financing and support?
I for one, think this is an excellent idea. I too, grew up in a low-income neighborhood, but my parents exposed us to different cultures, museums, neighborhoods, we went on vacations to California, and experienced the beach and so many things that made me yearn for more. I think it's important for kids (and their families) to experience things in life, it lets them see what a big beautiful world we live in, and may inspire some of them to want to dream big, go to school/college, etc. Hopefully this will become a reality for many kids and their families one day.
