Create a simple gray-water system for household sinks

Sustainability Solution by Kelli B on July 8, 2012 at 4:26 PM

An incredible amount of reusable water is wasted every day in the average household. A simple gray-water system for the kitchen sink would be ideal for the average family to use. A simple button or valve could switch the water from going into the sewer to an on-site collection tank instead. The gray-water could then be used to water the lawn, plants, garden, etc. instead of using freshwater from the hose or faucet.

You have to have a reclaim water permit in Arizona and most western states in order to reclaim water on your own property.

Since the desert has limited water & we get most of our usable water through city reclamation centers & aquifers, unused water cycle needs to be maintained.

Ironically, there are better federal & state tax incentives for water/household reclaim projects than solar power.
