Eco-Certified Restaurants
Sustainability Solution by Daniil G on September 1, 2011 at 11:01 AM
Increasingly, consumers can access information about the food that they buy, whether it be calories at a fast food restaurant or where vegetables are shipped from. In this spirit, restaurants should provide more information about where they get their food from, the conditions it was raised or grown in, and the labor conditions where the food is sourced from. This would help restaurant-goers make more informed decisions about where and what they eat, and ensure that where they spend their money is aligned with their own values. Restaurants could also receive special designations that they are "Green" or "Eco-Certified," sort-of like LEED certification, but focused on the food.
