Mandatory Internships/Co-op/Community Service

Education Solution by Dzifa K on April 25, 2012 at 7:35 PM

There's nothing like sitting in a job interview and you begin to realize that the lack of related experience or community service is hurting the chances of landing the position. Furthermore, not all schools are created equal. While some promote these experiences, others can use help in doing more for their graduation candidates. Hence the proposal is to require one community service and one major or minor-related work experience (internship, co-op, study abroad, research, off or on campus) within every degree program. Moreover, various organizations, departments and institutions that offer these opportunities will have a stronger and wider platform, to connect with the student body. Finally, ASU will produce, undoubtedly, competent and experienced graduates that can now serve as productive and innovative citizens.
