Mentoring youth through self-esteem development
One way that we can encourage youth to pursue a college degree through mentoring programs is to include self-esteem development helping youth imagine themselves as they will be in the future. Self-esteem development is not prevalent in American society as much of advertising and media helps us to focus on what we lack as opposed to building a life based on our natural human talents. The best mentoring programs bring out the best in youth, helping them discover multiple opportunities for future success.
"We will not find peace in our generation until we learn anew that a man's life consists not in the abundance of things in his possession, but in those inner treasures of the spirit"
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
