OneWay: A Simple Universal Change into Effect

Communities Solution by Howard W on November 9, 2011 at 11:30 AM

OneWay is the idea of a donation fund that students, staff, and faculty of ASU can take part in. The idea is to ask these individuals to donate at least one dollar per semester to a donation fund that is collected, and submit recommendations of where to send the money collected to. This will raise about $80,000 per semester that can be spent on multiple charities, local schools, food banks, etc. At the end of the semester, with the collected recommendations and chosen student/faculty representatives, the representatives will meet and discuss where to donate the money to. This is a complete student initiative that is open to all of ASU in order to better one's community, state, nation, and or world. It is even being presented to the Innovation Challenge in hopes of winning to put the $10,000 straight into the donation fund, going statewide, or even national. Please vote for this, and remember it is such a minimal amount that allows everyone to take part in bettering their community

This is a phenomenal idea! Kudos. :)

Going off of the statewide/national level of initiative.....if this works with ASU, we can then turn this into a statewide initiative, and who knows go even further into a national initiative and become a large non-profit organization. My favorite part about this is that it is so simple, but can make a huge impact. Everyone can particiapte, and better their community with such a small donation. All it takes is numbers. The more who participate the larger the sum of the donation fund. If everyone at ASU donated a dollar into this fund per semester this would be the result: One Year: Around $180,000 + 2nd year of $180,000 +.......and so forth. In four years alone we the students, faculty, and staff will have raised around $720,000 just by donating 1 dollar per semester. Think about it.
