Recyling Cell Phones

Sustainability Solution by Jennifer W on May 8, 2012 at 8:12 AM

Companies like ReCellular recylce cell phones. According to authors of "true green @ work," as of 2008, more than 140 million cell phones are sold each year. At the rate that people upgrade, they just sit around or get thrown away (at least every two years). There are many toxic materials in cell phones, which "adds up to a lot of potentially hazardous material," (page 88).

The solution: recycle cell phones. in 2011 ReCellular kept over 6 million cell phones and mobile devices from contaminating landfills!
