Smart Start

Education Solution by Corbin R on October 26, 2012 at 10:25 PM

Many high school students realize later in life that they wasted a lot of time during their high school years pursuing a smattering of activities and interests that ultimately amounted to nothing. It becomes clear that as time goes on, you don’t have as much free time as you once had. The time requirements of college, jobs and other responsibilities generally increase as time goes on. I propose a mandatory high school class that I call “Smart Start.” The “Smart Start” class would get students to realize that their high school years are a great opportunity to become an expert in something. The course encourages students to define what it is that they are passionate about and what their strengths and weaknesses are. The course would link students to various helpful resources. Through the implementation of this program, more high school graduates would have a highly developed skill that relates to their passion.
