Sustainability of water resources

World wide a source of fresh water is increasingly becoming more difficult and with the effects of climate change the problem grows each year.
I live in Peoria Az. with a beautiful golf course next to me that is watered by reclaimed water. The water is not potable but it is clear as tap water and no odor.
World wide we have cities with water and sewer departments who waste the discharge water as their is no humane use for it. Being that reclaimed water is ok for the golf course I would like to see the advance to making this a source of fresh drinking water. We need a system that can be adapted to any size community world wide to create a source of fresh water. The saving of our declining ground water will be immense.
This type of technology exists of our space station so lets move this into a commercial application world wide for all earths citizens.
