Sustainable Farming in Zimbabwe
Farming in Zimbabwe used to be the most important economy generating sector and also had the largest number of people working in that sector. The produce was used in manufacturing local products and some exported for sale to other countries hence generating foreign currency for the country. However, there has been a decrease in the produce over the last few years. The farming methods used have not been the best for producing enough to feed the country and export and hence people have lost their jobs, both in the agricultural and manufacturing sector as we now have to import already manufactured goods. If I could work with the agricultural, science and sustainability students at ASU and have them work with farmers in Zimbabwe about sustainable farming methods, it would help reboost the agricultural, then the manufacturing sector and eventually, my country's economy.
